- A woman says her partner of 25 years, with whom she shares four kids, has finally agreed to get married
- However, he is demanding a prenup because he now has a multimillion-dollar net worth
- The woman sought advice on The Ramsey Show
After building a life with her partner over 25 years and welcoming four children together, a woman’s partner has finally agreed to get married — but he has one major stipulation that shocked her.
The woman, named Andrea, shared her dilemma in a letter to The Ramsey Show, seeking advice. She explained that she’s “been asking” her partner to marry her since they had their first child.
“He recently stated that we can get married — if I sign a prenup,” Andrea wrote. “He had nothing at the start of our relationship, and his business has grown significantly. He has over 300 employees, and his net worth is in the millions.”

Andrea went on to explain that she “gave up” her career 20 years ago to stay home and raise the couple’s children.
“We are financially well off, and he has taken very good care of the children and me,” she said, while admitting that the request for a prenup dismayed her.
Andrea asked hosts Dave Ramsey and John Delony if her partner was “wrong to ask for a prenup.”

She concluded, “I love him, but wonder if I should just let go of the idea of marriage.”
Reacting to her letter, Delony said, “I don’t really know how I can help you. I think you let go of the idea of marriage 25 years ago when you started having kids.”
Ramsey then interjected and told Andrea she made “a really terrible bargain” in her long-term relationship with her partner.
“You gave up everything, and he gave up nothing,” he said. “You raised his kids and helped him build a business, and he owns it.”
Ramsey told Andrea she could call her partner’s bluff and tell him she’s walking away if he doesn’t drop the idea of a prenup, but suspected she would be unwilling to do that.

“You don’t have any options,” he said. “Your options are to stay or demand that we get married with no prenup or I’m leaving and taking the kids.”
Ramsey also suggested that Andrea’s predicament should be a cautionary tale for others to help them avoid ending up in a similar situation where they are “unsafe” and “exposed.”
