Cardi B is looking back at her relationship with Offset.

On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the “Safe” performer appeared on an episode of Call Her Daddy and opened up about how she navigated her public split from the Migos rapper, 33.

“Even in the long marriage that I was in, there’s a lot of things that I regret, and there’s a lot of things that people are gonna be like, ‘You see, you wasted your time,’ but I don’t feel like it was a waste of time,” Cardi, 32, explained.

She added, “I see what comes with being a wife, being a mom, so I experienced that. It’s like I have to experience pain, I have to experience good times, I have to experience what it was like to have a family and to be a wife.”

When discussing her choice to walk out of the marriage, Cardi (born Belcalis Almánzar) said it’s an individual’s choice to “stay or go” — and she wouldn’t “blame” anyone for their decision.

“I really just don’t regret anything. It is what it is. If your heart is not ready, it’s just not ready,” she said, adding that she knew it was over when her body was “rejecting” the relationship.

“I felt like I was getting really sick and it’s like, ‘Alright this is dead,'” she said.

Elsewhere, Cardi said that she and Offset — who got married in 2017 — had “separation moments” where she wouldn’t see or talk to him for two-to-three months. Cardi and Offset share daughters Kulture Kiari, 7, and Blossom Belle, 1, and son Wave Set, 4.

“Nobody’s going to ever know your complete business,” she said.

Cardi first filed for divorce from Offset in September 2020, but they later reconciled. She then filed for divorce from him a second time in July 2024, after confirming their split in December 2023.

On her new album, Am I the Drama?, she raps about the demise of their marriage on songs like “Man of Your Word.” During an interview with CBS Mornings on Wednesday, Sept. 17, Gayle King, 70, read some of the lyrics back to her — and Cardi opened up about it.

“Seven years I admit, it wasn’t all bad / Skeletons in my closet too / As a wife I should’ve realized you were hurt / But instead I put my music first / But I really do wish you the best / Continue being a winner / If I had one wish / I wish you would’ve been a man of your word,” King recited.

“I just wish he was a better person, but it is what it is,” Cardi said. “Be a better person for your kids.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she said she was “so tired” of being associated with him.

“I filed for divorce a year ago,” the “Drip” musician said. “That should be very clear. I don’t deal with that, I don’t mess with that, I don’t have no contact with that.”

Still, she said that she doesn’t have “hate in my heart anymore” and hopes to co-parent in the future.

“I think he has some type of hate in his heart right now… I don’t know how long that’s gonna take for him but that’s always been my wish,” she said.
