Walmart is bringing back a deal that will save shoppers money when it’s time to put together their Thanksgiving feast amid concerns about rising costs due to new tariffs.

On Wednesday, Oct 21, the company’s CEO and president John Furner appeared on Good Morning America to reveal that Walmart was bringing back the Thanksgiving Savings Basket for a third consecutive year.

Despite concerns about pricing, buyers will get the deal at a better price than they did in 2024.

“We are really excited about what we have planned for this year at Thanksgiving,” he said on the morning show, adding, “This is a time of year when people are busy. They don’t want to sacrifice quality, and we want to do all we can to help them celebrate the holiday any way they want. And we want to do it in a way that’s very affordable with a lot of value.”

According to a press release from Walmart, the basket prepares a meal that costs approximately $4 a person when serving 10.

On GMA, Furner revealed that the price was down “about 25%” from what customers paid in 2024, which is a savings of approximately $14.

The basket features more than 20 items, chief amongst which is a 13.5 lb. Butterball Turkey.

“Our turkey prices are all the way back to what they were in 2019 at 97 cents a pound,” Furner told George Stephanopoulos. He added that the deal “was better than I expected,” saying that he was “really excited” when the pricing was presented to him this year.

“We started putting together this idea of having the entire basket easy to purchase, easy to assemble back in 2022. And this year we will have the best prices on the basket we’ve had since the program started,” he said.

Furner added, “We want to help people celebrate any way they want and do it at a great Walmart price.”

Per the press release, this year’s basket features other ingredients such as stuffing mixes, dinner rolls, potatoes, cranberries, pie crusts and other Thanksgiving essentials from brands such as Campbells, Stove Top and Walmart’s brand, Great Value.

Walmart shoppers will be able to order the basket with free express delivery if they are using the company’s Pickup and Delivery service for the first time.

The deal — which Walmart designed with value, abundance and convenience in mind — can be picked up online and in stores through Dec. 25.

This year, the box store offered some alternative meal options, such as a gluten-free Thanksgiving meal and a Prime Rib meal basket. Balanced Thanksgiving swaps, described as a “mindful twist on tradition,” enable “high-protein swaps like Goodles Mac & Cheese and cauliflower mashed potatoes and ingredients to make a high protein pumpkin dessert,” per the press release.

“We know every dollar and minute counts — which is why we are offering a low priced, one-click Thanksgiving Meal Basket featuring iconic brands like Butterball and Stove Top alongside trusted Walmart private brand items. We want every family to be able to share a meal and celebrate without compromising on quality, quantity or tradition,” Furner said in a statement shared by Walmart.

After previously admitting that tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump earlier this year would affect prices, Furner commented on how things are changing at Walmart moving into the holiday season while on GMA.

He stressed that the company has taken steps to help protect customers from rising costs, highlighting the reduced price on the savings basket and the deals that people can get via their Rollbacks program.

“As we stand here today, we get to talk today, we have about 7,000 items on Rollback, which is up about a thousand from where we began the year,” he said, adding that the goal of the program is to keep prices for “some of our better and best quality products” at decent prices.

Furner also said that “about two-thirds of what we sell is either made, grown or assembled in the United States,” which has also helped offset rising prices.

Discussing new trends that he’s seen in 2025, Furner said, “What we’ve been seeing, and we talked about this at the end of our second quarter just a couple months ago, we see a customer that is very savvy. They’re thinking about value. They love quality, and they’ve been very resilient.”

“Our customers that have been shopping with us both online and in store, they’ve been really resilient, but they’re looking for value. So we are doing what we can to ensure that we’re being as efficient as possible so that we can deliver low prices,” he said.
