Vinny Guadagnino could use more lessons on the art of wooing! The Jersey Shore star committed what can only be considered the most awkward of pick-up attempts in reality-TV history, patting his potential mate’s hands at the bar with the whole cast horrified in the background. Posted by the Jersey Shore Instagram account, the clip takes us to Vinny, 36, trying to bond with the woman in question through childish antics while the friends commented with a range of emotions-from amused to horrified.

The video shows Vinny enthusiastically engaging in patty cake, while his castmates observe from what seemed like surveillance feed. We hear Snooki chime in, “He is the biggest chooch that ever chooched,” followed by others that said, “His day ideas are definitely like preschooly.” At one point, someone says, “Vinnie will never get laid if he keeps it up with this patty cake and this bunny bunny bunny bunny bunny.”
The caption asked, “how to flirt 101: play ✍️ pattycake ✍️” in promotion for tonight’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation show on MTV. However, the fans certainly had a lot to say about the weirdest way Vinny tried to pour his heart out.
At one point, someone exclaimed some indeed spoken words in a time of silence: “I like Vinny, and I hope I don’t get any negative backlash from this, but there’s a part of me that thinks he has always been in the closet. Which is okay if he is. But what do I know I only see an edited version of his life.” Such a comment was met with a flurry of reactions; one for instance said, “He’s just a huge momma’s boy, with a Seinfeld complex,” to which another replied, “there’s been rumors for yrs that he always wanted Pauly.”
Rumors about Vinny’s sexuality are literally nothing new amongst the Jersey Shore fanbase, but this patty cake moment definitely stoked the flames. The conversation then shifted when someone bluntly stated, “I definitely knew Vinny was gay after he dissed Maria. She was 🔥 and her personality fit with his and they looked good together the guy is not looking for a relationship/wife he’s trolling.”
But those theories were not sitting well for some fans. Defenders of Vinny went as far as saying, “Vin just needs to find a women on his maturity level. She seems compatible with him.” Suggesting that maybe Vinny’s patty cake antics are less about hidden sexuality and more about finding somebody who can… keep up with his particular… energy.
No political statement can be avoided either, someone commenting, “I really wanna love Vinny, but he supports a man that doesn’t like color people ☹️…” That then sparked a mini debate in the replies over Vinny’s politics, with one person replying, “Oh god stf u,” whilst another exclaimed, “oh nice, I didn’t know he was a trump supporter. Love it.”
Cringe was the theme of the day, though. More than several commenters labeled Vinnie’s antics as “cringey,” with one perfectly encapsulating the scene: “First has his friends call the girl over for him, then plays pattycake with her 😂 that is a 13 year old stuck in a 30 year old body.”
Someone else was like, “He’s already done this bit on Double Shot 🤣🤣🤣🤣” implying that maybe Vinny’s pattycake move is his staple move.
The Angelina factor cannot be left out with one saying, “Angelina is dying of envy!!!” while others shot back: “nahhh I don’t think she’s jealous neither envious! I think she’s in shock lol 😂,” and “yea, they all looked a little shocked 😂 Vinny has no game. Angelina is right it sure was a little cringe. 😂.”
For some fans, it’s a guilty pleasure: “I loveeeeee these people 😂” and another asked, “Where can I watch these new ones?” suggesting that despite all the embarrassment, Jersey Shore still packs quite a punch.
Another commenter defended the patty cake antics with, “It’s not patty cake it’s NUMBERS! 😂” probably meaning there is more to Vinny madness than what meets the eye.
The general consensus: Vinny may need to take a few lessons in flirting, but hey-on at least he’s trying. One fan said, “🙌🙌 listen if this woman works out yay for him!!!”
From 2009, the Jersey Shore gang has been loads of fun, and moments like these keep them relevant. Be it genuine awkwardness or contrived drama, fans cannot keep their eyes off such beautiful train wrecks. From the dark downward spiral, the show is evolving into something stranger where middle-aged folks side into a bar and play kid’s games, while their friends watch from security cameras.
Strange new times for Jersey Shore productions, yet one thing is for sure: Vinny Guadagnino remains one of the most frustratingly bizarre Jersey Shore cast members. The man still talks-from his connection with mom, to the politics, to, well, idiocy in flirting. And in reality-TV land-that what really counts.

The new episode airs tonight at 8 PM on MTV, so by judging from this clip, it will surely be just another weird entry into Vinny’s funeral march toward love…or whatever this is.
