For UPS worker Aubrie Whitford, Christmas isn’t just a season — it’s a mindset.

Last year, her love for the holiday caught the internet’s attention when she went viral for wrapping a child’s gift that arrived in obvious packaging.

Not wanting to spoil the surprise, she took a little extra time to carefully wrap the gift before delivering it to its destination.

The small but thoughtful gesture struck a chord with viewers online, and since then, Whitford has continued doing what she can to protect a bit of Christmas magic, one package at a time.

“I’m a Christmas lover through and through. Just knowing my job is related to Christmas time brings me so much happiness,” the 27-year-old tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“My great-grandmother instilled my love for Christmas and doing good for others every chance you get; this job position gives me all those feel-good feelings.”

While holiday deliveries can be especially demanding, Whitford goes above and beyond to ensure the magic of Santa and the surprise of every gift stays intact.

“I do it often because I am very familiar with the area I deliver and know which houses are where the kids get off the bus versus when it’s the grandparents’ house,” she explains. “I don’t want a child, or even an adult’s, Christmas surprise ruined.”

Since last year, Whitford has been committed to concealing gifts whenever she can, even while navigating unpredictable weather, heavy traffic and a high volume of deliveries.

“It’s nothing that can’t be worked around,” she says, revealing that as it gets closer to Christmas, she ends up wrapping nearly one or two gifts a day in her yard after they are dropped off at her home.

Thankfully, she doesn’t need to disguise packages every day, but keeps supplies and trash bags ready in her garage so she can act quickly when needed.

“My deliveries always make it to their destination on time or even early, as I am very efficient in my process of loading my car and delivering,” Whitford explains. “That efficiency gives me the flexibility to take five minutes to conceal a package.”

Knowing many of the gifts she delivers are large and expensive, Whitford aims to help hardworking parents – especially single parents – preserve the surprise for their children.

“There’s a common misconception that people order online because they are lazy, but the reality is, so many single [parents] are working overtime and don’t have time to go to the physical stores, which leads them to online shopping,” she tells PEOPLE.

“To bridge that gap and be the community and village for them, concealing their hard-earned Christmas gift for their children, means the world to me.”
