Timothee Chalamet is singing his praises for his idol Adam Sandler!

On Saturday (November 15), the two actors attended a joint appearance at Netflix’s Sandler x Chalamet event held at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles.

After playing some basketball, the guys sat down for a conversation where Timothee, 29, said that Adam, 59, deserved an Oscar for his performance in the 2002 movie Punch-Drunk Love.

As a young actor knowing you for your comedic work, seeing that thrown against the context of your other work, I’m like, ‘Wow, this is a f–king incredible actor. I hope I can give a performance like this.’ ”

“I know it’s not about awards, blah, blah, blah, but you should have a golden man in your hand,” Timothee continued. “Man, you’re one of the best f–king actors of all time.”

Adam then acknowledged Timothee‘s recent successes, including his Oscar-nominated portrayal of Bob Dylan in last year’s A Complete Unknown along with his performance in the upcoming movie Marty Supreme.

“What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all,” Adam said. “I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future.”

He also looked back meeting Timothee for the first time in 2014 when they worked together in Jason Reitman‘s movie Men, Women & Children, though Timothee‘s scenes ended up being cut from the final version.

“I remember when Jason Reitman was talking about you being in it,” Adam recalled. “He said to me, ‘Oh, I got this kid playing the quarterback. He’s coming. He’s incredible.’ He, like, knew.”

Since crossing paths over a decade ago, Timothee and Adam have remained friendly. Back in 2023, the two met up for a game of basketball in NYC.
