Stacey Solomon admits both her and her kids were emotional as they headed back to school after the summer holidays

Stacey Solomon has admitted that both her and her kids felt ‘sad’ as they went back to school after the summer holidays.

The presenter, 35, is married to ex-EastEnders actor Joe Swash, 43, who she shares children, Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, with.

Stacey also has older sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from two previous relationships.

And after a summer filled with lavish trips and quality family time, Stacey shared that it was an emotional morning as the kids returned to school.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, Stacey shared a snap holding her son Rex’s hand.

She captioned the snap: ‘Everyone was very emotional going back to school this morning. I know they’ll be so happy when they see all of their friends.

‘I did feel sad dropping them off this morning though!’

Finding a silver lining, Stacey added: ‘But then I got home tidied my house and am currently looking at a clean house for the first time in six weeks. That’s cheered me up no end.’

It comes after the Daily Mail revealed Stacey has quietly quit Loose Women after 13 years on the panel.

Stacey last appeared on the ITV series in December 2024 for the show’s 25-hour Talkathon, which was held to raise awareness of the network’s Britain Get Talking campaign, and her last panellist slot was on June 3, 2024.

But eight months after returning to the panel, sources close to Loose Women have revealed Stacey has been ‘too busy’ with her other television work to come on and the feeling is that she has completely cut ties.

While Stacey is yet to appear on the show this year, she came on the programme once in 2024 and twice the previous year, with her regular slots dating back to 2022.

A TV insider revealed that the Loose Women team made multiple attempts to book Stacey last year because they value having her on the show but they kept receiving ‘no’s’ so decided to move forward with other talent like Olivia Attwood, 34, and GK Barry, 26, who also appeal to a younger audience.

It’s believed the mother of five has focused all her energy on her BAFTA-nominated BBC show Sort Your Life Out and reality series Stacey and Joe, which gave viewers an insight into her family life at Essex home Pickle Cottage.

A source revealed: ‘The team at Loose Women did everything possible last year to have Stacey on the panel, the viewers love her and there’s always a boost to the ratings when she’s on.

‘But it’s clear Stacey has quit Loose Women, she hasn’t been on the panel all year, there are no plans for her to appear, she most certainly hasn’t been booked and the show stopped reaching out months ago.

‘It’s highly unlikely she will feature next year once the show goes down to airing just 30 weeks a year, there will only be a few slots available to the regular presenters.

‘Stacey still has a lot of close friends on the show like panellists Kaye Adams and Linda Robson so the hope is she will reunite with the panel as a guest.

‘But for now bosses have moved forward with the likes of Olivia Attwood and GK Barry, given they also appeal to a younger demographic.’

Stacey first joined Loose Women in 2011 and became a panellist in 2016. Her last appearance on the ITV series was on December 5, 2024.

She came on the show only once during the whole of 2024 and twice the previous year, and hasn’t been seen as a regular panellist since 2022.

The former X Factor star still states she is a ‘proud’ Loose Woman in her Instagram bio despite her lack of appearances.
