A global star as both a soloist and member of Blackpink, Rosé has set multiple industry records. Her debut studio album Rosie and her Bruno Mars collaboration “APT.” delivered the highest-charting Billboard 200 debut and the highest-charting Hot 100 and US Top 40 radio hit by a female Korean artist.
“APT.” also won Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV VMAs and became the fastest music video by a lead female artist to surpass 2 billion YouTube views, and the fourth fastest overall.
Speaking to Variety about the success of her song, the 28-year-old songstress said, “It feels surreal, because the song carries so much of my culture. It proves to me that even if I can stay true to my authentic self, I can still break records and have the whole world sing and dance along.”
Given the sheer success of the song, it might come as a shock to some that it almost didn’t get released!
“I had it on repeat till morning,” Rosé said. “Then a rush of emotion came through, and I was like, ‘I need to get everybody to delete it’ — I was overwhelmed.”
But then everyone she played it for kept texting her “saying they couldn’t get it out of their heads.”
She also talked about her debut album.
“It’s a time capsule of my 20s,” she said. “It’s me becoming independent and reflecting on my emotions and being my full, authentic self. I poured my heart and soul into it.”
Speaking of “APT.,” Rosé revealed that she and Bruno got into a fight on the set of the music video!
