My Favorite Washable Silk Dress from Quince Feels Like Pajamas, and Fits My Petite, Plus-Size Frame Like a Glove

I adore my flannel button-downs, sweaters, and winter sets. But I don’t love how much space they occupy — both in my closet during the season and in storage bins once spring comes. So, in 2026, I’m focusing on investing in pieces that are easy to layer and work in my wardrobe year-round.

When I spotted Quince’s Silk Slip Dress, I was excited. I’ve been wearing and loving the brand’s midi skirt made from the same material since summer, so I was curious to see how a full silk dress would look. It exceeded my expectations and, as one reviewer noted, is a true “capsule wardrobe staple.”

The rich forest green shade made the dress a standout in my holiday rotation, but what I appreciate most is how easy it is to style. It’s a true wardrobe chameleon. I layered it with a faux fur jacket for a Christmas Eve party and received multiple compliments, and then wore it shopping with tights and an oversized sweater for a more relaxed daytime look. In a few weeks, I’m attending a wedding, and I’ll be wearing it again with heels, jewelry, and a wrap.

I wear a size 16/18 and am 5-foot-3, which can make finding clothing that fits well and hits at the right length a challenge. I wore this in a size 1X straight out of the package, with no hemming required, thanks to its midi-length. The adjustable straps made it easy to customize the fit and control how low the neckline sits, depending on the occasion. The dress is also available in standard sizes and 11 colors.

As much as I like to look fashionable, I won’t wear anything that feels restrictive, which may be my favorite thing about this piece — seriously, it feels like wearing pajamas. The silk is soft against the skin and is easy to care for since it’s machine-washable and can be dried on a low setting. While the delicate fabric does wrinkle, creases come out easily with a low-heat iron — just be sure to turn the dress inside out first.

Shoppers are also fans of the piece’s versatility, sharing that they wore it to sleep, shop, and out for fancy dinners. One reviewer called it “exquisite,” while someone else said it “feels good” and “looks good,” which mirrors my own experience. Another customer shared that they wore it under a sheer dress and received “many compliments,” noting it works well as a lightweight layer.

I’m already eyeing the dress in more shades while they’re still in stock. Plus, keep reading for more closet staples available at Quince.
