For International Friendship Day, Pixar injected social media with a much-needed dose of nostalgia, reminding everyone why Bob Parr and Lucius Best are still one of the most well-established duos in animated history. The studio treated all of us to a stellar video of their chaotic yet heart-touching relationship, with the caption “Bob + Lucius = best friends 🫶.” Really, who would dare argue that? Furthermore, the studio urged viewers to stream the original film on Disney Plus, as if early 2000s magic just doesn’t go far with today’s generation.

That clip is priceless-a fast-paced montage of Lucius, aka Frozone, being the best wingman while Bob was having his midlife superhero crisis. From the famous ‘WHERE IS MY SUPER SUIT’ meltdown to agreeing to babysit with the casual warning, ‘It might get weird,’ their friendship has this ride-or-die element that none of us have but secretly wish for.

The video consists of a soundtrack of the best hits of the bromance, including Lucius dryly affirming that ‘He’s okay’ while everyone around is questioning Bob’s life’s decisions. Reactions came in faster than Jack-Jack multiplying, with one user pretty much summing up the whole Reddit community: ‘The real hero is Lucius. He is literally the dream boyfriend.’ This comment then led to some amusing remarks about Frozone’s actual superpower being ‘evading his wife,’ even years later, the audience hasn’t stopped laughing about that legendary marital spat about the super suit. Another comment shouted in Spanish, ‘Release The Incredibles 3 now!’ which, honestly, carries the same energy.

Samuel L. Jackson’s chilling presence is surely unforgettable. Several commenters in the comments mentioned him being ‘so cool’ (pun intended), and one declared him ‘Favorite Samuel L. Jackson character,’ and that’s high praise considering his film history. The cry for more Frozone content got so loud it almost felt like the buildup to a riot. Numerous comments on the Frozone stand for one movie, including one in ALL CAPS that reads-a threaten-creative-mutiny demand – “Pixar hear me out… WE ALL NEED A FROZONE MOVIE !!!!”

Well, that list includes some of those who were less than pleased with how the sequel used him, with one commenter stating plainly, “Bro is severely underused in the second movie,” and it is true, sting though it may. Then there was overseas love: comments in Persian praising Frozone’s “southern accent,” while Spanish-laden Portuguese comments demanded uniforms (probably referring to that infamous missing super suit).

Amidst all this madness, a deep thought surfaced: ‘Literally are a sample of best friends hopefully we get a series or a 3rd movie but let them grow up and see what happens in their lives.’ This person is probably onto something, considering we’ve seen the Parr kids grow up across two films; maybe it’s time to look into what happens to these two disaster dads as they navigate middle age? Pixar, it’s in your hands.

While a scattered few attempted to detract with random Finding Nemo-themed nail art promotions (???), or ominous threats to account safety (okay then!), the overall mood was one of reverence-and humor-for one of the best friendships in all of animation. Twenty years later, those jokes land harder than a fistful of Elastigirl stretches. Be it for the nostalgia, the memes, or just the effortless cool of Samuel L. Jackson, this post made it pretty clear that some friendships-even animated ones-are truly incredible.
