‘Opalite’: Taylor Swift’s Upcoming ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Song Sparks Fan Theories About Travis Kelce Connection

Taylor Swift fans are convinced her new track “Opalite” is a sweet nod to boyfriend Travis Kelce – and it’s not even out yet.

The 14-time Grammy winner revealed the song as track No. 3 on her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl during her August 13 appearance on TravisNew Heights podcast, which will be released just before his October 5 birthday.

While revealing the release date, Taylor made a point to reference the fact that album would be released in Travis‘ birthday week.

When Jason Kelce then pointed out that Travis, their mother Donna Kelce and his daughter Wyatt Kelce all have birthdays within a week of each other, Taylor continued: “I picked a good month, all these libras out here, the opal birthstones.”

Opalite, a man-made gemstone resembling natural opal, symbolizes clarity, new beginnings, and emotional healing.

Fans immediately connected the title to Travis’ October birthstone and to moments in Taylor’s past, including her 2017 revelation that opal jewelry comforted her during her school years.

“My favorite stone is an opal because when I was bullied in school, my mom used to take me to T.J. Maxx after school to look at the opal jewelry,” she shared at the time to Us Weekly. “I thought opals were so beautiful, and somehow it made me feel better. We never bought them, just looked.”

Taylor has also worn opal pieces while cheering Travis on, including a pair of opal and diamond hoop earrings at the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC Championship game in January 2024, per People.

The couple began dating in July 2023 and have been each other’s biggest supporters ever since. On the podcast, Taylor even joked, “This podcast got me a boyfriend,” referencing Travis publicly shooting his shot two years ago. Find out what else we learned about the album so far!
