It looks like the Pentagon Pledge is not going the way the Trump administration planned.
Last month, a list of new rules was sent out, sharing “[The Department of War] remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust. However, DoW information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified.”
“The press is no longer allowed to roam the halls of a secure facility. Wear a badge and follow the rules — or go home,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also added.
However, it looks like most news outlets have rejected these new rules.

Even MAGA-leaning publication Newsmax has reportedly declined to sign, according to Washington Post journalist Scott Nover.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins added, “Virtually every news outlet is rejecting the ultimatum and saying they will not sign the Pentagon’s restrictive new press rules, including Newsmax, which said in a statement, ‘We believe the requirements are unnecessary and onerous and hope that the Pentagon with review the matter further.’”
