Monkey D. Luffy is, once again, live and in the flesh for One Piece season 2!
The Netflix live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series is coming back to the streamer soon for yet another iteration — and there’s plenty to catch up on. While the beloved One Piece anime kicked things off back in 1999, its live-action counterpart joined Netflix in August 2023, following the tales of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero) and Sanji (Taz Skylar) as Luffy leaves his small village to embark on a quest for the mythical treasure of “One Piece.”
One Piece’s creator Eiichiro Oda previously has said the live-action series was a seven-years-in-the-making project, and now its new season is expected to drop early next year to keep things going.
Season 1’s final episode, which arrived on Netflix along with the entire season, wrapped with Luffy’s grandfather Monkey D. Garp (Vincent Regan) facing off against Luffy before letting the Straw Hat Pirates go on their way. Now, season 2 will offer “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet” for the crew.
Here’s everything you need to know about the next iteration of the live-action saga.
