Nicole Kidman Says She Finds ‘Purpose’ in Being Her Daughters’ ‘Protector and Their Guide’

At age 58, Nicole Kidman continues to find purpose every day.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on Thursday, Oct. 9, the actress candidly shared what keeps her “vibrant and energized” as she grows older.

“Life. Connection. People. Sharing ideas. And just actually being alive, I’m grateful to have that,” she said. “I’m grateful to be a part of this world.”

The multi-hyphenate said she is “grateful to be surviving as a woman, as an actress, and as a producer, professionally and personally.”

“Also, my children [give me the] purpose of being their protector and their guide, promising them that I’m here and that, no matter what, there’s always a safe place to grow up in,” said Kidman.

The Big Little Lies star shares two children, Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, with ex-husband Tom Cruise. She is also a mother to two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with her estranged husband, Keith Urban. The two separated after 19 years of marriage in September 2025.

Kidman most recently stepped out with her daughters, Sunday and Faith, at the Chanel runway show during Paris Fashion Week on Monday, Oct. 6, where she debuted a new set of bangs.

The mother-daughter outing, marking Kidman’s first public outing since the divorce news broke, came days after Sunday walked the runway at the Dior show on Wednesday, Oct. 1. 

It has been a big couple of days for Kidman and her daughters as the family matriarch was also named an ambassador for Chanel.

“As someone who has such an appreciation for haute couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest haute couture house still in operation and having the opportunity to wear what I know will be gorgeous creations,” Kidman said in a statement to WWD.

PEOPLE confirmed that Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Since then, a source close to the family has told PEOPLE that Kidman is focused on moving forward.
