Plot details are still under wraps, but the project promises to bring Archie, Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and the rest of the Riverdale crew to theaters in a major way.
“We are longtime fans of Archie, Veronica, Betty and the gang in all of their iterations. When we heard Tom King’s take on the classic material, we instantly thought it made sense as an event movie for all audiences — both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. We’re so excited to bring these beloved characters to the big screen,” the producers said in a statement, via THR.
Archie Comics, first introduced in 1941’s Pep Comics No. 22, has sold over three billion copies worldwide. The characters have long been synonymous with small-town Americana and remain a staple in pop culture thanks to their decades-spanning presence in comics, TV and more.
