The Beast in Me currently has an 84% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The London Evening Standard writes: “It’s all the more impressive given that its creator, Gabe Rotter, hasn’t written anything big for the small screen before. Hats off: it’s a pretty immaculate psychological thriller.”
THR says: “Despite a great cast, in which nobody is really doing bad work, The Beast in Me is an exercise in prestige television monotony.”
The Guardian says: “Even without two astonishing performances from the lead actors, the script, the sheer style and confidence of it all, would be things of beauty. But add what that pair are doing, and this… thriller moves seamlessly into top-tier television.”
Variety says: “The Beast in Me fills itself out with enough plot to propel a satisfying binge, and provide the momentum that might otherwise come from the friction between Aggie and Nile.”
The Daily Beast says: “An expertly performed and assuredly directed saga about storytelling, self-delusion, and murder that never stops playing familiar narrative games and indulging in overwrought exposition.”
