The Paramount+ series just premiered recently, starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo reprising their fan-favorite roles as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David.

Per Paramount+, the show picks up after Ziva’s supposed death when Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then—and where we find them in NCIS: Tony & Ziva—Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.

Now, the lead stars and showrunner are speaking out about the possibility of a second season.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva has not yet officially been renewed or cancelled for Season 2.

“I think we’d be lucky to play these characters…Season 1 was like a dream. It was so much fun to go back and revisit these characters. Where this goes, we know not,” Cote told TV Insider.

“We’re just grateful that we got a chance to do it, and the rest is the rest. If we got a chance to do it again, we’d be thrilled.”

Michael referenced an on-set joke he and Cote had with NCIS co-star Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, when discussing the idea of multiple seasons.

“You forget that there’s a decapitated corpse in front of you or whatever. You’re just walking around eating a sandwich. And Cote and Sean and I would, depending on who was feeling particularly squirrelly that day, turn to the other two and go, ‘How many more seasons you got? How many more seasons you got?’”

Cote added that they’d “just die laughing.”

Showrunner John McNamara offered his take on more seasons, and said that he’s “just focused on finishing this season and trying to make it as good as possible.”

“And honestly, it is going to be entirely up to the fans and the subscribers to Paramount+ and ultimately to Paramount and CBS. It’s their property and it’s their money,” he added.

The show currently has an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score, and an 82% audience rating.

Stay tuned as we wait to hear the show’s fate with Paramount+! In the meantime, find out which shows the network has officially renewed so far.
