Morgan Wallen Will Not Submit His Album for Grammys 2026 Consideration

Morgan Wallen is taking himself out of the running for the 2026 Grammys.

Despite his latest record I’m the Problem spending its 11th non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Billboard has confirmed that Morgan and his team have decided not to submit the album, any of its 37 songs, or Morgan himself for Grammy consideration.

The move is highly unusual but not without precedent, as both The Weeknd and Drake previously chose not to participate in the Grammy process following years of frustration with the Recording Academy.

Hits Daily Double first reported the news, and Billboard later clarified that the decision applies to all categories, including best country solo performance and songwriting categories. However, the other songwriters on the project are still free to submit their works.

Morgan has had huge commercial success, including four No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, three on Hot Country Songs, and his Hot 100 chart-topper “What I Want” with Tate McRae. The Recording Academy has largely overlooked him, with his only Grammy nominations coming this past February for his collaboration with Post Malone on “I Had Some Help.”

First-round Grammy voting runs October 3-15, with nominations to be announced on November 7. The awards ceremony will take place February 1, 2026.

It’s worth noting that even without a submission, Morgan could still be nominated if his duet partners or collaborators choose to put forward their songs. That was the case for The Weeknd, who received nominations in 2022 through other artists’ projects despite his own boycott.
