Marvel Entertainment came out of left field with a collab about which at least the golfing cognoscenti are talking in lieu of superpowers. It was announced that Fantastic Four: First Steps would take over Topgolf’s Block Party lite for a limited period, so a bit of driving range fun is being thrown to the hypes of the superheroes.

The Wednesday post gave a teaser for the collaboration, with the caption reading, “Fantastic ⛳️.” That post went off on social channels. One fan wished, “This is my jam!! Conjuring heat while I head there 🏌🏾☄️,” while Topgolf cheekily added, “a fantastic collab if we do say so ourselves 👀.” The hype was further cemented by another talented contributor who took it one down further by stating, “Fantastic Four Potential &Deserves a AAA scale Video Game Of Their Own🙏.”

Not everyone was impressed, though. One of the comments was “This has been at Topgolf for two months you guys are late to the party 😂,” implying that maybe Marvel missed the hype train to begin with. Another user took the opportunity to make a bold interview plea in Spanish (roughly translated): “Hello, look, I don’t want to spend my whole life in a room. Please do the same for me and boost my acting career like Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, or Chris Evans. It is my dream to be like them.” While heartfelt, this comment is an odd detour in the thread.

Another dispute was over box office figures, with one user firing back at the detractors, ‘People be saying this movie failed in box office when it’s on track of making $500M+ breakeven point 😂.’ Whether the figures hold truth or not, excitement around Marvel’s latest crossover stunt cannot be denied.

If you still haven’t checked it out, the Topgolf experience offers the innovative way in which the up-and-coming Fantastic Four reboot can be engaged—pitting swings against Marvel-themed visuals. Judging by the comments, the fans are all in for the mashup and some overpriced snacks to go with it. (“300 dollars in food right there 🤡,” one mocks.)

There is no word yet on how long the collab is going to last, but with reactions this divided—and this loud—Marvel must surely appreciate the unendless buzz. If it is for golf, the superheroes, or just to witness the spectacle, one thing is for sure: The Fantastic Four are making some moves big and lethal, both on- and off-screen.
