Mariah Carey Previews New Album With Intimate Piano Performance

Little by little, Mariah Carey has been teasing the album release of HERE FOR IT ALL, set for September 26. The diva posted this very bare, very emotional clip of herself and co-writer/producer Daniel Moore singing the track live, which sparked such an intense reaction among the hardcore fanbase.

The clip does not feel like a promotional tease; instead, this looks like a somewhat private moment someone captured and leaked. Here, Mariah sits beside Moore at the piano, and therefore her voice is utterly vulnerable yet tremendously powerful; that is the voice we have grown familiar with throughout the decades, along with singing lyrics of love, fear, and steadfast commitment: “I lay awake and feel you breathe and thank the Lord I live to see the physical embodied man of love,” a declaration so personal it just hurts; then it escalates with Mariah swearing she will “keep my shit together” for this soul she ever so dearly loves and for the crux of that complete statement, which proclaims the rebellious stance of the album: “baby, I’m here for it all.”

This is her finest: raw, stripped down, and emotional lyrics fused with stratospheric vocal gymnastics. The clip lasted more than a minute and was riveting enough to suggest that this album would very well rekindle for her personal songwriting, which was the hallmark of her classic era.

Comments began to pour from her fans, or the “Lambily,” in venting countlessly about how social media was providing coverage on the beauty. “How am I crying from a one minute, thirteen second clip?! It’s beautiful,” remarked one person. Nearly every other comment was on the same lines: “I’m so happy I could cry.” Everybody not only heard the snippet but felt it, something akin to raw genuine emotion, which speaks of the solid bond built between her and her fan base over the course of her lifetime journey.

Very quickly, certain fans drew parallels with the glories of old. One fan gave, in a very crude manner, “All I’ve Ever Wanted vibes,” a comparison so deep that it would need insider knowledge to appreciate it. “All I’ve Ever Wanted” is a much-loved deep cut from her 2002 album, Charmbracelet. To stylistically reference her older works, yet with a total contemporaneous setting, is rare.

But the overwhelming excitement is now tinged and slightly poisoned with anguish. The album was coming out in weeks and counting until the release date, and fans were counting for it. One other supporter was lamenting, “2 weeks left feels like an eternity of waiting,” voice from another ear much before, “sep 26th can’t come any faster!!!!” This single preview has done the job perfectly: everyone is now longing for much more.

Not all comments were adulation. Most of the criticisms, however, were very amusing to go through. One stated that the album’s “roll out has been awful so far,” even complaining about merch availability, signaling that fan investment now goes greater than just the music. And another more conservative listener took a hit at a lyric: “the word Shit in a love song is unacceptable,” although the guy also admitted that “voice sounds good though.” This serves as a little reminder that not every pick will land with everyone-even with an icon.

Instead, anticipation and trust grow mightily. I’m here for it all was a recurring theme, taken from the chorus itself. They are ready; ready for ballads, ready for vocals, ready for emotion, ready for the journey. One fan put this beautifully: “This lamb is ready for slaughter. Mother, you’ve slayed once again.”

From this tiny little preview, I’m telling you: Mariah Carey is not just serving new records, but an entire experience – a piece of herself set to a piano melody. And her fans are unquestionably here for it all.
