A North Carolina man had a very good hair day!

Unlike most people whose bank accounts dip after paying for their haircuts, Oscar Galdamez Rosales’ bank account total increased.

After a recent Saturday, the Durham resident won a hefty prize from the North Carolina Lottery while picking up cash to pay his barber.

As Rosales grabbed his money from Lighthouse Food Mart in Durham, he bought a $20 Ruby Red 7’s scratch-off ticket on a whim.

“Something just told me to buy that so I went for it,” Rosales told the North Carolina Lottery. “I was definitely feeling a lot of emotions.”

Soon after, Rosales claimed his winnings — $71,756 after state and federal tax withholdings — at the state lottery’s headquarters.

Ruby Red 7’s, the scratch-off game Rosales played, debuted in August, with state residents winning three $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes. Two $2 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain up for grabs.

Rosales is looking forward to putting his lottery prize to good use, telling the North Carolina Lottery, “This will help me complete some goals that I have — it’s definitely going to help.”
