Ian Watkins has died at the age of 48 after being attacked in prison while serving a 29-year sentence for child sex crimes.
The former Lostprophets singer pleaded guilty to 13 charges back in 2013 and the mothers of two children he abused were also sent to jail for many years. People reports that among the charges he pleaded guilty to were “conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault of children, seven counts involving making or possessing indecent images of children, and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.” He had pleaded not guilty to rape.
Watkins was previously attacked in prison in August 2023, but those injuries weren’t life-threatening. The latest attack occurred on Saturday (October 11) and he died from the injuries.

Associated Press reports that Watkins was attacked with a knife and pronounced dead at the scene. Two men, aged 25 and 43, were arrested and an investigation is underway to determine how this happened.
