“To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” he told People.
Still, he had nothing but praise for Lily, who married his son Charlie McDowell in 2021.
“I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses. She has such a beautiful quality. As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it.”
He even gave her credit for boosting French tourism: “I’m sure [it] has gone up so much from people in the United States watching and going, ‘Yeah, let’s go to Paris.’”
Lily, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins, recently welcomed her first child with Charlie via surrogacy earlier this year. She’ll return in Season 5 of Emily in Paris, which premieres December 18 on Netflix.
The new season follows Emily as she adapts to life in Rome while navigating career setbacks, heartbreak, and a looming secret that threatens one of her closest relationships.
If you missed it, the show recently resumed filming after a tragedy.
