Kate Cassidy is opening up about her grieving processing following boyfriend Liam Payne’s sudden death nearly one year ago.
The 26-year-old influencer said she slipped into a two-month depression after the One Direction singer tragically suffered a fatal fall off a hotel balcony on October 16, 2024.
‘I was always just kind of doing nothing and just dealing with that grief and pain,’ she told Page Six at a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) benefit this week, adding she was ‘just not wanting to really live my life.’
After several weeks, she said, ‘I finally realized, ok, I need to live my life, I need to get up, get out of bed.’
Kate said she started by setting an alarm to get out of bed one hour earlier day after day.
She then began ‘working out,’ ‘eating clean,’ and living her life not only for herself, but for Liam.

Now she says she believes staying busy contributes to her maintaining a positive headspace.
The blonde beauty explained, ‘I like to always like be up early, have a workout class planned, go for a nice walk, eat cleaner. I feel like, for me, being active always keeps my mind so much cleaner and healthier.’
Remembering her partner fondly, she said, ‘He lit up any room. He was just so sweet, so funny. I’ve never met anybody like him, and I’m sure I probably won’t ever meet anybody like him in my life.’
She reflected, ‘In a way, I actually am glad that he’s just going to be that one person. He was the best person I ever met.’
An autopsy revealed 31-year-old Liam had alcohol and cocaine in his system at the time of his demise.
Authorities also concluded that the star died while attempting to escape his hotel room after he was locked in by staff.
Five people were initially charged with his death after he fell from a third-floor balcony at CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
But in February BBC reported that charges against a friend of Liam’s and two staff members were dropped.

And in August she fought back tears as she baked a cake for what would have been her ate boyfriend’s 32nd birthday.
She captioned a video, ‘Happy birthday, Liam. I know you still have the sweetest tooth in heaven. I tried my best here but it’s the thought that counts. Enjoy.’
Kate also uploaded another video, a montage of memories featuring the two of them.
It was captioned: ‘8.29.93. A special day for the most special soul. I miss you so much. Happy Birthday Liam. I wish we could celebrate together. In the next life I guess.’
