On the film’s surprising fan favorite:

“Some people really want to know about Bobby — he became this massive star. Bobby could have his own spinoff.”

On sequels and spinoffs:

“There is potential for it to go global…Korea is just one country that we are showcasing. We can do this in every other country and expand the lore…”

On the power of her women leads:

“I love seeing young girls watch this because I wanted to create strong female characters…but I also wanted to create women that love comedy…I want girls to know that there’s real power in being funny…and that it takes a lot of confidence.”

On her one regret in making the film:

“I wanted more Korean lyrics in the songs, but our songs are so narrative and to carry the story and characters, it felt like it was better to have them in English so that the English-speaking audience can understand. I understand, but in some ways, I feel like I didn’t push back hard enough on that. So, I have a little bit of a tinge of regret on that front.”
