The legal filing notes that Taylor “has agreed to appear for deposition,” but she is unavailable until October 20. As we all know, she will be busy promoting her new album The Life of a Showgirl, due out on October 3.
Justin‘s lawyers had to file for an extension of the discovery cut-off date as all depositions need to be completed by September 30, according to the current timeline from the court.
“Wayfarer Parties requested an agreement solely to take the deposition of Taylor Swift during the week of October 20-25,” Justin‘s lawyer wrote in the letter (via People).
Taylor will only be deposed if the judge agrees to the extension.
So, why is she even being deposed in the first place?
Blake and Justin are in the midst of a legal war over her accusations that he harassed her on the set of It Ends With Us. He filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against her in response, though that lawsuit has been dismissed by the judge already.
Taylor is a longtime friend of Blake‘s, though it has been alleged they aren’t close anymore amid everything going on with the lawsuit. In alleged text messages that were included in the lawsuits, Justin implied that Blake had her husband Ryan Reynolds and BFF Taylor present at a meeting to voice support for her changes to the script.
Taylor was previously subpoenaed by Justin‘s legal team, a move that was slammed by the singer’s rep.
In a statement to JustJared.com back in May 2025, Taylor‘s spokesperson said, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
The statement continued, “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
Blake is now seeking a payday from Justin in response to his “frivolous” lawsuit.
