Justin Baldoni‘s legal team attached the nearly 300-page transcript of Blake Lively‘s deposition to a court filing and she just won a small legal battle to have it stricken from court record.
Blake‘s team filed a motion this week, accusing Justin‘s lawyer Bryan Freedman of “making improper out-of-court statements that, they argue, are designed to influence jurors,” according to Variety.
The motion came just days after Blake sat down for her deposition with Justin‘s team. She claims that hours after she was deposed, Justin‘s lawyers “filed a motion in a discovery dispute, which included a sealed copy of Lively’s deposition transcript as an exhibit.”
Blake‘s request to have her deposition transcript taken out of the court docket has been granted by Judge Liman.

In a key excerpt from the opinion, which was obtained by JustJared.com, the Judge wrote, “The Wayfarer Parties’ attachment of the entire, nearly 300-page deposition—after citing only two pages of it in the Letter—served no proper litigation purpose and instead appears to have been intended to burden Lively (and as a result, the Court) and to invite public speculation and scandal.”
The opinion continued, “Even if the cited deposition portions were relevant or provided support for the Wayfarer Parties’ arguments—both of which are far from clear—the Wayfarer Parties have not even attempted to argue that the entire deposition was relevant. Nor could they. The conclusion is inescapable that the Wayfarer Parties filed gratuitous amounts of irrelevant pages so that, if Lively moved for continued sealing of the irrelevant pages, the Wayfarer Parties could then use Lively’s response for their own public-relations purposes. The Court has not only the power but also the responsibility to step in.”
Justin‘s lawyers just responded to Blake‘s accusation that they leaked deposition details.
