John Legend made a rare remark about his marriage to Chrissy Teigen just weeks after ringing in their 12th wedding anniversary.
While attending the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Gala, the 46-year-old EGOT winner gushed to People that they’ve ‘grown up together and been through all the highs and lows together.’
‘I think being parents forces you to grow up, and it changes your priorities,’ he explained. ‘But also, [for] all the joy we’ve experienced together, we’ve also had tragedy together and challenges together.’
The All of Me hitmaker continued: ‘I think all of that helps cement the bond and the relationship that you have, because you know you can go through all this together with a partner, and I think that’s really been the story of our relationship.’
The couple share four children: Luna Simone, nine, Miles Theodore, seven, Esti Maxine, two, and Wren Alexander, two.
In September 2020, the model, 39, experienced a life-threatening partial placental abruption at 20 weeks into her pregnancy, which led to the loss of their son Jack.

Last year, Teigen called Legend her ‘favorite person on this whole planet’ on Instagram as they celebrated 18 years together and 11 as husband and wife.
‘Thank you for loving me and our family so fully,’ she wrote in her sweet tribute. ‘thank you for being my partner and best friend. 18 years together. 11 years married. 4 babies. 4 dogs. 2 hairless cats. A bearded dragon. A house full of love and fun.’
The star couple married on September 14, 2013, in Lake Como at the Villa Pizzo, which is known as one of the most exclusive wedding destinations in Northern Italy.
Stevie Wonder provided the musical entertainment for the couple, while Legend also sang.
Teigen wore three custom Vera Wang gowns.
In 2023, the lovebirds returned to Lake Como, Italy, to renew their vows.
Teigen previously opened up about the moment her 20-year-old self first locked eyes with Legend back in 2006.
‘We did the music video, we were together for like 12 hours,’ she recalled on The Wendy Williams Show.
