Jenna Bush Hager gave a glimpse of an Italian Sojourn during which she ditched the autumnal chill of New York for the summer intensity of Puglia. She was posting from Vista Ostuni, an old monastery that had been refurbished and restored, which she rendered magical or something along those lines. The opposite seasons thing sounds pretty fabulous, going by her heartfelt expression in that video caption, with the hotel being a dream.

With the escape from her daily grind, the Today show co-host enjoyed this trip to the far lands of southern Italy. Soon players and even the hotel had taken to the sights of Hager’s posts, curious about how beautiful and restored that ancient building truly was.
The hotel responded warmly, saying: “It was a huge pleasure to have you with us, we look forward to having you back soon.” That personal acknowledgment of the hotel only reinforces how good a stay she might have enjoyed there.”
Others would concur with her praises of Puglia. Another reminiscing user wrote about his extensive traveling throughout the region: “We were in Puglia just last week and LOVED Ostuni, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, and Polignano a Mare…such old-world charm, authentic Italian warmth, and beauty. The Puglian people could not have been any more wonderful!” This exotic view awakens a mixed nostalgia for the region among Americans from all walks of life, all in search of a true Italian experience.
Away from travelling and tourist topics, one commentator went on a different tangent and concisely said, “Bad decision to let Donna go,” presumably in reference to something wholly unrelated to Hager’s Italian trip. The off-topic type of comment occasionally arises in celebrity posts, which actually is a testament to how these social media channels of public figures really invite conversations of all sorts.
Another entered the fray with an injection of pragmatism: “Super nice! Sadly not in my price range,” she confesses. This candid confession speaks to a reality that, to many of her followers, these sorts of luxurious accommodations will always be a little out of reach, however tempting.
Hager’s choice of Puglia comes hand in hand with the rising American interest in the southern part of Italy, where one discovers an old architectural heritage and coastal sceneries that is very different from the typical northern destinations overrun with tourists. In giving attention to this sometime monastery’s recent renovation, the ambassador hence casts a spotlight on the ongoing efforts made by Italy towards saving its historic edifices through sympathetic updates for present-day travelers.
The entire range of reactions to Hager’s posting—from exciting agreements on Puglia’s charms to off-topic postings, to budgeting considerations—really shows how celebrity social media is quickly becoming both a travel inspiration forum and an all-encompassing arena for whatever else interests the audience. Thus, with her mini getaway post, she has managed to keep at the center of conversation about Lake Como and Italy and much of her very private presence on social media.

It is that mixture of genuine personal pleasure and earnestly felt respect for local culture which keeps her message resonating with the audience and makes her travel endorsements very persuasive. One would reasonably expect that any endorsement by Hager regarding Vista Ostuni would rightly shine a spotlight on this particular venue as well as Puglia in general, showcasing how potent the social media of a celebrity can be in terms of charting the conversion of travel trends and the popularity of destinations.
