Social media is abuzz about a moment that happened between JD Vance and Erika Kirk at a Turning Point USA event this week.
The Vice President of the United States was a guest speaker at the organization’s event at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday (October 29) in Oxford, Miss.
Erika, who became the CEO of Turning Point after the death of her husband Charlie Kirk, introduced Vance to the stage. The event took place seven weeks after the right-wing podcaster was killed.
After Erika introduced JD, they shared an embrace that has been getting a lot of attention.

Erika was seen placing her hand on JD‘s head, with her fingers resting on his hair, while JD had his hands on Erika‘s back and torso. See the clip here.
She said during the intro, “When our team asked my dear friend, Vice President JD Vance, to speak today, I really prayed on it, because obviously it’s a very emotional, emotional day. But I could just hear Charlie in my heart. I could just hear him say, ‘Go reclaim that territory, babe. Go. The battle’s already won. God’s love conquers.’”
Erika added, “No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD, in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”
Many on social media are commenting on the intimate nature of the embrace, with JD‘s wife Usha Vance also in attendance at the event.
