Just look at that photo. It gave life to a young generation’s shouts about a potential Kickin It-lborth. Lead actor Jason Earles, who played Rudy Gillespie in the popular Disney XD show, posted yet another throwback photo with his colleagues, and somewhere in that caption, there was a statement about them still being one real family: “Nothing like seeing some of your favourite people,” Earles wrote. “We missed you Mateo! These guys are Family, and I wish them endless love and success!” The hashtags #KickinItTheMovie and #KickinItReboot sent the internet into a frenzy.

If the photo isn’t serotonin for you, nothing is—six people crunching in what looks like a living room, all smiling as though they just hit the lottery, with arms flung casually over shoulders, no room for insecurities, and crazy energy from friends who haven’t seen each other since forever. The backdrop had this painting depicting some European-looking street that added to the vibe and made another wish to be there.
Let us talk about these comments because HOLY, THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN. One user came in and just called it a “legendary photo,” and honestly? Facts. Another fan who looks rather mobilized by emotions wrote in Portuguese (that’s what the user said, translated here): “I can’t believe this happiness, God bless everyone.” The love for the show is so real that many one commenters were clawing for a movie, one begging, “Hope we need Kickin it movie 🥺” (Grammar was left for dead in favor of passion, and we respect that.)
“Generation of laughter now begins with the side-by-side of Cobra Kai, and someone declares: ‘Kickin’It is the OG Cobra Kai 😂😂😂.’ Isn’t it?” We aren’t so sure. Funny? Absolutely. Another user admitted it had taken him “10 business days” to process who was in that photo, which is also very much a vibe altogether. And let us not leave out the one that somehow referenced Demi Lovato?? It is a wild web.
Now, in real talk, for everybody wondering: ARE THOSE REBOOT TAGS FOR REAL? The comments section was flooded with variations of, “PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS HAPPENING,” and honestly, same. Earles didn’t say anything necessarily definitive, but you just have to realize that dropping #KickinItReboot is the celebrity’s version of just pouring gasoline on a fire of rumors.
For those who would want to be reminded once again, Kickin It filmed and aired from 2011 to 2015, and it was about a group of teens training at a martial arts dojo. It was sweet, cheesy, wholesome, and just the kind of comfort TV we need today. The fact that they still hang out as a cast? That kind of behind-the-scenes magic actually gives reboots the thumbs up.

That being said, will there be a Kickin It ventures movie or series? The debate has yet to have a proper spokesperson, but if this photo means anything at all, you’ll have me feeling pretty confident the cast is down. From the commercial perspective, Disney has to pick this one up faster than anyone can say Wasabi Warriors. Till then, we gonna be re-watching the original series and acting like it’s 2012.
