  • Janelle Brown just shared an update on the construction of her new North Carolina home
  • In an Oct. 5 Instagram post, Janelle showed off her new driveway and recently poured concrete footings
  • Janelle’s new house will sit across from her daughter Maddie and son-in-law Caleb Brush’s home
  • Elsewhere on the property, the family will honor Janelle’s late son Garrison who died by suicide last year

Janelle Brown is making progress on her new North Carolina home.

“It doesn’t look like much but it is,” the Sister Wives star wrote in the caption of a Sunday, Oct. 5 Instagram post. “This is real tangible progress towards the new chapter in my life.”

The reality TV star shared images of the driveway and concrete footings poured on the 156-acre property she purchased with her daughter Maddie and son-in-law Caleb Brush. She described the work-in-progress as the home “designed exactly the way I wanted.”

“In a lot of ways, it feels like my first true home,” the 56-year-old wrote. “Houses I have owned before were bought often because it was what worked for my big chaotic family. Often reflecting not what I chose or wanted but what worked.”

She added: “Every part of this new home is [truly] intentional. Cheers 🥂”

Janelle, who was second of four waives in now-ex Kody Brown’s plural marriage, welcomed four children during their relationship: Logan 31, Madison 29, Hunter 28, and Garrison, who died by suicide in March 2024 at the age of 25. The plural marriage dissolved in 2022 and tensions between Janelle and Kody grew as he became estranged from two of their sons in 2023.

Now, Janelle is putting down “some permanent roots.” In a Dec. 19 Instagram Reel, she showed off a vast plot of vacant land with several trees and unpaved roads.

“Finally putting down some permanent roots. Doesn’t look like much yet but it will 💪🏻,” she wrote about the land. “I like the wild feel that it has now and we are planning for many acres to stay that way for the benefit of the wildlife.” The star also tagged Taeda Farms, a company she founded with Madison and Caleb.

“My home will be right across from Maddie and Caleb’s on our property and will have a big covered front and back porch,” Janelle wrote in an April 17 Instagram Reel showing off the progress. “Bring on evening in a porch swing (with required screens in the summer for bugs lol).”

The new home will also honor those the family has lost. In the Sunday, Sept. 28 episode of Sister Wives, Janelle shared a sneak peak of how her late son Garrison’s memory will live on at the new property.

During the episode, Janelle’s former sister wife Christine Brown and Christine’s new husband David Woolley visited North Carolina to celebrate the property. While gathered together, Maddie pulled out an aerial map of the farmland and explained their plans.

“Garrison’s always in our thoughts, right? And we will definitely, probably have a part of the flower garden that’s really more of a memorial to him and to Bob’s Floral, his Hawaiian shirt shop,” Janelle said in a confessional.

To the group, Maddie said, “We’d like to do a flower garden area, like a monument. A quiet garden that’s dedicated to people who struggle with mental health and lost their battle.”

Janelle added: “He’ll always be here. He will be represented here for sure on this property.”

The family also plans to name a road leading to the property “Bob Blvd,” since Garrison’s first name is Robert and he was often referred to as “Uncle Bob.”

At the time of Garrison’s death, Kody and Janelle confirmed the tragic news in a statement shared to Instagram

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown,” Janelle wrote at the time. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
