Olivia Jade Giannulli and sister Bella Giannulli are “definitely upset” by their parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s separation — but they “aren’t surprised,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
“They had seen the way their parents were interacting in the last year and knew this was coming,” the insider says. “It was not a shock to anyone in the family.”
Us confirmed on October 2 that Loughlin, 61, and Mossimo, 62, have separated after nearly 28 years of marriage.
While the news was surprising to some fans, the source tells Us that the couple were “arguing often and their lifestyles weren’t meshing anymore.”
The Full House alum and her spouse “grew apart and Mossimo moved on quickly,” the insider says, noting that Loughlin and the fashion designer “haven’t really operated as a unit for quite some time.”
For their daughters, “This change feels more like an adjustment than a disruption,” the source explains. “Everyone’s still adjusting, but it’s been a calm transition overall.”

After tying the knot in November 1997, Loughlin and Mossimo welcomed Isabella “Bella” in September 1998. One year later, they expanded their brood with the birth of Olivia Jade in September 1999. (Mossimo is also the father of son Gianni, 34, from his first marriage to Chris Giannulli.)
While their parents’ separation is upsetting, the source tells Us that Olivia Jade, 26, and Bella, 27, are “very close with Lori and have been supporting her.”
“The girls all have similar interests so they love hanging out and spending time together when they can,” the insider shares, noting that Olivia Jade is “enjoying being bicoastal right now and has separated herself a bit” from the situation.
The influencer is currently “focused on her career and what is next for her and thinks New York City is where she needs to be for now,” the source adds. (Olivia Jade splits her time between the Big Apple and California, where her family resides.)

Prior to Loughlin and Mossimo’s split, the pair faced public scrutiny for their alleged part in the 2019 college admissions scandal.
The duo pleaded not guilty in April 2019 to fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges after being accused of paying $500,000 to get their daughters into the University of Southern California and falsifying documents that claimed they were on the crew team.
Amid the scandal, a source told Us in September 2019 that Bella was “extremely concerned” that Loughlin and Mossimo were “going to get divorced.”
However, the couple stayed strong before and after changing their plea in May 2020. At the time, Loughlin and Mossimo pleaded guilty to charges of wire and mail fraud, resulting in a five-month prison sentence for Mossimo and two years supervised release. He was also required to do 250 hours of community service after being released in April 2021.
Loughlin, for her part, served two months for her alleged part in the incident and was released in December 2020. She was also sentenced to two years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service. Additionally, the couple was ordered to pay $400,000 in fines.

Earlier this year, Loughlin and Mossimo put their Hidden Hills home in California on the market, leading some fans to believe there might be trouble in paradise.
“They are living apart now,” Loughlin’s rep told Us in a statement on October 2, confirming their separation. “There are no legal proceedings underway.”
Shortly after their split news made headlines, stylist Hannah Harrison was romantically linked to Mossimo. She exclusively told Us on October 3 that she and Mossimo are strictly platonic after the pair was seen out in Beverly Hills together earlier that week.
“I feel like it was bad timing. I went to the [G/FORE Supply] store not knowing that his separation had been announced,” Harrison told Us in a statement. “I was going there to meet him.”
She added that the duo were meeting to pull clothes for Mossimo’s brand and drove separately to and from the location. “We were not there together [and] we are not dating. We are good friends. He was just meeting me at the store,” Harrison added.
Loughlin, meanwhile, raised eyebrows when photos surfaced of her and actor James Tupper having dinner at The Bird Streets Club in West Hollywood on October 1.
Loughlin’s rep, however, clarified to Us that “Lori and James have worked together and are old friends,” having costarred most recently in Great American Family’s A Christmas Blessing.
