The awards season opened with a scintillating Toronto bash honoring talents of the highest caliber at the Four Seasons Hotel. Truly a glamorous event tucked in the last few hours of anticipation below the “waiting line,” this was part of the “Road to the Golden Globes” series, in partnership with TIFF. The opening gala is one of the iconic networking moments for contenders and insiders alike.

The buzz of Golden Globes is out there, and beauty is in the air. The official Instagram feed of the organization showed glimpses of a very gorgeous grand occasion held at the Four Seasons Toronto, dubbed “Road to the Golden Globes Party” in collaboration with TIFF. The organizer captioned it as “unforgettable”; which on looking at the ambience and more so on the faces of the crowd, is probably the biggest understatement.
There is a class-in-the-pictures: Group of tight-knit smiles, dressed in lovely hybrid formal-cool-yet-an-awards-season-standard attire. The lighting accordingly was rather dim, with big lush-green plants adorning the backdrop-a vibe that would surely tickle the memories of anyone who attended the soiree. That is where magic is created-the magic of big deals, cemented friendships, and perhaps even giving rise to the first few murmurs of the frontrunners.
The reaction was all positive. The commenters “Wow! Look amazing… Lovely energy.” And so, these vibes are very much positive.
Well, the real fun during such star-studded events is spotting celebrities in the crowd. One curious fan asked, “Who is the one in the gold shiny suit?” while others were scrambling to identify who the standout attendee was. An assistive reply well followed with: “the brilliant Andrew Scott. Otherwise known as Hot Priest and perhaps the best Moriarty ever.” This is a very accurate remark and brings back memories of his immortal roles.
Then, somebody observed Natalie Portman’s costume and supposedly found an eerie sign: “Is Natalie Portman really wearing a ‘V’ logo? What’s crazy I was watching V for Vendetta last night.” Either a haunting coincidence or an absolute deep-cut fashion statement; this remains a mystery.
However, the gist of certain other comments was a bit of an offshoot. One absolutely relevant comment read, “Yes my French Toast brings my kids out of their rooms and gets devoured,” at which point another replied to the hotel’s Instagram tag @fstoronto. Hey, good brunch is a universal language.
That gave birth to FOMO for several other replies, “dude @paulmescalofficial is in the house and i did know 😢.” Sorry you missed it, friend. Maybe next year.
This one captures the feeling poetically: “Starry starry night ⭐️ @fstoronto 👏🔥❤️.” Pretty much says it all.
It’s not just parties; these are, align-the-invitation-kickoff events, a scene to see who’s celebrating whom, who’s making the show, and what the air feels like walking into one of Hollywood’s biggest nights. The Golden Globes have been feeling a bit down of late, but affairs such as this one go a long way in spotlighting the importance they still hold in the awards circuit.

Seeing so many familiar faces smiling, looking loose, and having a blast was such a huge statement that behind the campaigns and the backroom politics, there is genuine excitement about celebrating films and television. The Toronto party is a pit stop on the road; a very glamorous one, though. So, the season is here, and it’s looking bright.
