A former news anchor has been arrested for stabbing her elderly mother to death.
Anyone from the St. Louis area may remember local news anchor Angelynn “Angie” Mock. She worked for KOKH-TV between 2007 and 2011, where she served as a morning anchor and evening reporter for Fox affiliate KTVI-TV.
However, she’s now gone from reporting on local true crime to living it.

On Halloween, the Wichita Police Department released a shocking news statement on Facebook revealing Mock had stabbed her 80-year-old mother Anita Avers:
“At approximately 7:52 a.m. on Oct. 31, officers responded to a reported cutting at a residence in the 1500 block of East Crowley. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect outside the home.”
The suspect being Mock. According to KWCH-DT, the former anchor was found covered in blood with cuts on her hands. Neighbor Alyssa Castro told KAKE-TV that Mock approached her car and asked her to dial 911. Castro said Mock took her phone before admitting to authorities she stabbed her mother to save herself, per cops.
In their news release, the WPD added:
“Inside the residence, officers found Anita Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased at 8:26 a.m.”
Mock was also “transported to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for first-degree murder.” The police department revealed “the investigation is ongoing.” Read more HERE.

So, so horrible…
According to Mock’s LinkedIn, she worked in journalism between November 2002 and February 2015. At the time of her arrest, she worked as a data management consultant. However, just months before her death, Avers shared a throwback photo of Mock’s time as a reporter.
As of now, it’s unclear when Mock will appear in court.
Our hearts go out to Avers’ loved ones during this unexpected time. Rest in peace.
