Television’s biggest night has arrived: the 77th Emmy Awards will take place on Sept. 14, celebrating the best in comedy, drama and limited series. Hosted this year by comedian Nate Bargatze, the ceremony will spotlight both fresh newcomers and returning favorites.

First-time contenders include Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, HBO Max’s The Pitt and Apple TV+’s The Studio, which has 23 nominations, breaking the record as the most-nominated freshman comedy in Emmys history. Returning favorites are also in the mix, with Apple TV+’s Severance leading the way with 27 nominations.

For those who win a golden statuette, the night brings the ultimate bragging rights — and of course, a shiny Emmy trophy to display at home. But, even those who don’t win in their category can leave with a prize of their own as part of the Emmy Awards Giving Suite.

So, what do Emmy nominees get? Here’s everything to know about the exclusive Emmy Awards Giving Suite.

Nominees are invited to the giving suite prior to and during the event

During the rehearsal days and the live telecast, there is an Emmy Awards Giving Suite — an exclusive experience for presenters and nominees who are invited to select from a curated array of products and services — happening backstage.

This year, it will be produced for the first time by Distinctive Assets, a marketing company that has produced similar suites for other major award shows.

The Giving Suite will feature luxury products from Miage Skincare, custom florals from Blooms by Maison d’Emilie, tumblers from HyrdoJug and more.

In addition to the Giving Suite, talent also receives an Emmys Gift Bag stocked with products spanning wellness, beauty and lifestyle brands.

On the beauty front, the bags will feature items from L’Oréal Paris, Chanla Chau Cosmetics and Redken NYC. They’ll also include some wellness picks from brands including 1MD Nutrition’s VisionMD, Beekeeper’s Naturals, Designs for Health, Helight Sleep and Vital Proteins, along with an offering from Johnnie Walker Blue Label Blended Scotch Whisky.

Contrary to popular belief, those who win an Emmy don’t always walk away with something. Only one gratis statue is given to each winning entry, meaning only one person can physically take the prize home. One name can be engraved on the statue, but the name approved in credits is the name that appears on it.

Networks, studios or production companies that were principally involved with the winning program are also eligible to receive commemorative Emmy statues.

There are also nomination certificates available for Emmy nominees, as well as contributor certificates or plaques for those who contributed to nominated or winning projects.

The suite and gift bags offer an estimated thousands of dollars worth of products

Since this is the first year Distinctive Assets is organizing the Giving Suite, the overall value may look a bit different from years past. However, in 2021, Forbes reported that the Emmys Giving Suite was produced by Backstage Creations, and focused on “small businesses and minority-owned businesses.”

At the time, brands reportedly paid up to $6,000 to include a product in the bags, and anywhere between $15,000 and $250,000 to secure a space in the suite itself, where stars could browse the offerings and hand-pick what they wanted to take home.

At the time, Backstage Creations wouldn’t disclose the value of the Giving Suite items. However, Forbes estimated their value to be a fraction of the $205,000 Oscars 2021 gift bag.

According to Marketplace, recipients of gifts valued at $600 or more were required to pay taxes on them in years past. Per a 2006 Washington Post report, stars participating in the Emmys had to sign a statement ahead of the awards show acknowledging their responsibility for paying taxes on the goods.

The Giving Suite supports the Television Academy Foundation’s mission to provide industry access to students from all backgrounds, and has raised more than one million dollars over the past decade.

“We celebrate television’s brightest stars while also supporting the incredible work of the Television Academy Foundation,” Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary said in an official statement. “Our goal is to enhance the Emmys experience with fabulous gifts while proudly aligning with a mission that nurtures the next generation of television talent.”

Per a release, funds are donated to support the Television Academy Foundation’s Internship and College Television Awards programs and preservation project, The Interviews: An Oral History of Television.
