Following his explosive 2024 VMAs performance, Eminem is giving audiences an extra dose of that extra-special something. MTV announced that the documentary of the rap legend titled “Stans,” a full immersion into the lives of Eminem’s most devoted fans, will premiere on Paramount Plus on August 26.

An Instagram post teasing the project described it as “the perfect callback for the fans who’ve been along with him the whole time,” referencing the much-buzzed-about VMAs set that went viral all across the internet. Though the documentary remains a secret, it surely will allow at least some glimpses into the extraordinary relationship between fathers and his most ardent fans—the so-called Stan culture.
Comments flooded into the post in various reactions. One, mixing humor with sarcasm, commented, “Sounds like it’s just denaun singing,” insinuating Denaun Porter, Eminem’s longtime collaborator. Others were very positive and hopeful for the potential honors, with one comment reading, “Eminem is due for the video vanguard award..I hope he gets it this year.”
The announcement comes in the middle of a comeback for the 51-year-old rapper, who reminded us all of his skills at the VMAs. One fan took to “that generation comes and goes, Eminem fades never,” continuing with, “I saw it in theaters,” promoting the cinema-worthy recent shows.
The comment section did not stay on-topic, with some users expressing their views on another subject; one Spanish-speaking user commented angrily: “Why are you making hate posts against Blackpink and praising Katseye? How much is Hybe paying you for this trash media play? Respect Blackpink.” However, this comment was soon eclipsed by more on-topic discussions concerning Eminem’s legacy.
The documentary’s title, “Stans,” brilliantly refers to Eminem’s cultural relevance—being a term from his 2000 song seen as a descriptor for obsessive fans—and having, by now, found its way into everyday language. That in itself is a meta reference acknowledging Eminem’s awareness of just how much he’s influenced fan culture.
While some commenters tried steering the conversation toward religious prophecies or promoting comedy skits, most were focused on celebrating Eminem’s ongoing career. One overzealous Stan demanded, “Play ‘Kim,’” referring to one of the most controversial tracks by the rapper.
The approach of the August 26 premiere brings much excitement for an intimate portrayal of the ties between one of the greatest MCs to ever grace hip-hop and the fans backing him through every hard phase of his restless career. For the casual listener or the hardcore Stan, this documentary promises further insight into a complex relationship between artist and audience.

With VMAs still fresh in everyone’s mind and with this documentary announcement, 2024 is definitely going to be another legendary year for the “Rap God”.
