Donald Trump has announced this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees, and has revealed he’ll be hosting the annual Kennedy Center Honors event.
Each year, the iconic institution celebrates with their annual national celebration of the arts, with several high profile individuals chosen to be honored.
This year, Trump has announced he’ll be hosting the event with honorees including singer George Strait, British entertainer Michael Crawford, “I Will Survive” singer Gloria Gaynor, the band Kiss and actor Sylvester Stallone.
“I’ve been asked to host. I said I’m the president of the United States, are you fools asking me to do that? ‘Sir, you’ll get much higher ratings.’ I said, I don’t care I’m the president of the United States,” he said during the speech.
He then alleged, “I didn’t want to do it, they’ll say he insisted. I did not insist.”
CBS has aired the event in the past.
