Danielle Jonas Reveals Lyme Disease Diagnosis

Kevin Jonas‘ wife Danielle Jonas is opening up about being diagnosed with Lyme disease.

In a new interview with Parents published on Thursday (October 9), Danielle, 39, said that she first noticed something was wrong when she began experiencing hair loss.

“They tried to tell me it was anxiety,” Danielle shared. “Finally, I had a biopsy that showed I actually had Lyme disease. I also had eczema on my scalp, which was likely from the inflammation [caused by Lyme disease]. The hair loss was very traumatic. I got to a point where I wanted to wear a wig.”

“I had to go out and do things with Kevin,” Danielle said. “I just wanted to feel like myself.”

According to the CDC, Lyme disease is a “bacterial infection spread to people through the bite of blacklegged ticks.”

Symptoms can include “fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.”

While Danielle didn’t share her exact timeline of her diagnosis, she did say that her symptoms are currently under control.

She also shared that a major part of working through her symptoms helped inform her on how to talk to her and Kevin‘s daughters Alena, 11, and Valentina, 8, about their own skin struggles.

“They saw everything I went through,” Danielle explained. “So the main thing I tell them [when their eczema flares up] is ‘this is going to pass.’”

Last year, Kevin revealed that he had minor surgery to have skin cancer removed.
