Christopher Meloni Returning to ‘Law & Order: SVU’ for Season 27!


Christopher Meloni is officially coming back to Law & Order: SVU!

The 63‑year‑old actor will reprise his role as Elliot Stabler in the upcoming 27th season of the long‑running NBC drama.

NBC has not commented on the news, but the actor himself confirmed it on Saturday (August 3) with a series of Instagram photos from the SVU set.

Among the shots was one of him with longtime co‑star Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, as well as franchise veteran Dann Florek, who portrayed Captain Cragen until 2021.

He captioned the post: “Hangin with friends on a Friday nite.”

Season 27 will also feature guest appearances from B.D. Wong (Dr. George Huang) and Dean Winters (Detective Brian Cassidy).

Octavio Pisano is set to appear in the premiere as Joe Velasco, though he’ll no longer be a series regular. Meanwhile, Juliana Aidén Martinez, who played Detective Kate Silva, has exited the series after joining CBS’ FBI as a regular.

Season 27 of SVU premieres Thursday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
