Cate Blanchett Reveals If She’d Star in an English Language ‘Squid Game’ Reboot After Her Season 3 Cameo

Squid Game season three wrapped up earlier this summer, and there was a surprise celeb cameo at the end that got a lot of people talking.

Cate Blanchett appeared in the final scene of season three as the recruiter for the American version of the game, taking place in Los Angeles. Cate‘s recruiter is seen playing a game of dajiki with a man in an alleyway, slapping him continuously the way Gi-hun was slapped by the recruiter in season one.

Cate opened up about landing the cameo, how it came to be, and if she’s continue on playing the role.

“Because it’s such a cult series and they were shooting in L.A. of all places, everyone was on a need-to-know basis. I got a couple of storyboards. I had to [learn to] play the game very quickly. I had to practice and practice. I knew there were four or five setups that they were going to do, and I knew what they needed from every shot, and then I was given the sides. But it was one of the more mysterious jobs,” Cate said to Variety.

So, would she star in a USA-based reboot of Squid Game?

Cate declared, “I am wildly open to anything. And in a world that is so beautifully, magically created like that, for sure. They’re amazing world-builders, and that series has been eaten alive. I don’t think there’s a corner of the globe that it hasn’t touched in some way.”

About rumors there’s a David Fincher-reboot in the works, she said, “I mean, I’d love to work with David again. It’s been ages. But no, I don’t know anything more than you do. I’m not being coy. I really don’t.” They previously worked together on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
