Iconic 2000s pop powerhouse Anastacia reveals her favourite Sydney restaurant – and the heartbreaking reason she won’t move to Australia permanently

US pop star Anastacia delighted Aussie music fans on Saturday night when she made a surprise appearance at a karaoke event in Sydney’s The Roundhouse.

The I’m Outta Love hitmaker, 57, exclusively told Daily Mail at the event, hosted by drink brand Billson’s, that she was loving her time Down Under – and revealed her favourite restaurant in Sydney.

‘Café Sydney did not let me down. I have to say they were spot on on every level,’ the Chicago-born singer began.

‘There wasn’t a dish which [didn’t impress me]. I was really surprised because my friends and I shared [our food] and we each got to taste something.’

Anastacia added she was particularly impressed by the exceptional customer service she received there, given Australian waiting staff do not work for tips unlike their US counterparts.

‘It was a lovely restaurant, the atmosphere is lovely. And the help, it just felt like everyone was working as a team,’ she said.

‘Being that in America we work off tips, you guys don’t. To have that kind of hospitality, it was a restaurant I would go back to and I am only here for a week!’

The pop star added she loved Australia so much she would even consider moving here, were it not for one reason.

‘I have way more reasons to want to live here. It is not just that I like it, it’s reasons that I would move here, it’s been like that for awhile,’ she revealed.

‘But I have a disabled brother so I have to research how that transfers and how I would go about being part of the disabled community.

‘I don’t want him to be here without services for too long, like being around like-minded disabled people.’

The singer’s younger brother Brian has autism and she and her sister Shawn are his legal guardians.

On Saturday, Anastacia set the stage alight in Sydney, leaving fans in awe.

Hundreds watched in disbelief as two unsuspecting fans went head-to-head, attempting their best renditions of her 2000 smash hit I’m Outta Love.

Then, the moment everyone had been waiting for: the real Anastacia appeared on stage, wowing the crowd with her signature vocals before launching into a show-stopping performance of the global hit.

‘This was so much fun! When Billson’s told me what they were planning, I just couldn’t resist,’ Anastacia said in a statement.

‘Such a fun closure to my Australian shows.’

She arrived in Australia in September for the first time in a decade as part of her world tour celebrating 25 years of her hit debut album, Not That Kind.

The ageless star performed shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, proving she’s still every bit the chart-topping diva fans remember.

Anastacia last toured Australia in 2015 as part of her Resurrection Tour.

Not That Kind was a smash hit in Australia when it was released in 2000, reaching the number two spot on the ARIA album chart.
