‘Absentia’ Season 4? Renewal Status Revealed for TV Show After Surging in Popularity 8 Years Later at Netflix

Absentia has just surged in popularity again, thanks to being added to Netflix recently.

Here’s a synopsis: “When an FBI agent goes missing while hunting a serial killer, she’s declared dead in absentia — that is, legally presumed dead, even though there’s no body. But then she’s found alive six years later, with no memory of her time away, and struggles to step back into her old life. Her husband remarried and is raising her son with a new woman. And, while attempting to help her old colleagues with her case, she discovers she’s the chief suspect in a new crime.”

The show originally ran for three seasons from 2017 to 2020 on Amazon Prime and AXN, and stars Stana Katic, Patrick Heusinger, Cara Theobold, and Richard Brake.

Now, it’s hovering in the Top 10 on Netflix! But will there be a fourth season?

As of right now, there’s no news about Absentia being picked up again for a fourth season.

Back in 2021, show star Stana addressed the possibility of continuing on for more seasons on social media, writing: “Although we’ve danced with the idea of continuing the tale, Absentia was always meant to be only three seasons, and I couldn’t think of a better note to end on… for any person on this planet, but especially Emily and her loved ones.”

See what else she said at the time about the show ending.

Stay tuned in case the renewed popularity on Netflix leads to anything new from the show’s creators!
