At least six people have been shot and killed, including an off-duty police officer, after a gunman opened fire at 345 Park Ave in New York City. PEOPLE can confirm several others were hurt, per law enforcement sources.
The man, now identified as Shane Devon Tamura of Las Vegas, was allegedly wearing a bulletproof vest and could be seen on camera armed with an AR-15 before he walked into the office building. The area was placed under lockdown until officials confirmed he had been “neutralized.”
N.Y.C. Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch confirmed in a post on X, that the scene had been “contained” and “the lone shooter” was deceased.
Tamura allegedly shot himself on the 32nd floor of the building, but the scene remains active.

The building houses Blackstone Inc., the National Football League (NFL)’s headquarters, financial advisory firm KPMG, and several top law firms, including Loeb & Loeb LLP. Commercial giant Rudin Management owns the high rise structure.
“Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific act and their families. We are incredibly grateful for the bravery of building security and law enforcement,” a KPMG spokesperson told PEOPLE.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a video shared on X, “New Yorkers, this is Mayor Eric Adams, and I’m here at the scene on 51st and Park Avenue. Unfortunately, we had a shooting here with multiple injuries,” he began.
“The perpetrator is neutralized at this time,” Adams continued. “Those who are in the building, we are asking them to remain inside as police officers are doing a floor-by-floor search. We believe again, the perpetrator is neutralized at this time. We’re going over to the hospital to speak with the family whose loved ones were involved in this incident.”
