Ciara Renee has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the producers of the upcoming Broadway musical Wanted, claiming that she was promised to play the lead role and was later cut from the show.
The 34-year-old actress is best known for playing Hawkgirl in the DC Comics television series Legends of Tomorrow, as well as in episodes of The Flash and Arrow. She most recently had a recurring role on Your Honor season two. On Broadway, she has appeared in musicals like Big Fish, Pippin, Frozen, and Waitress.
Ciara played the role of Mary Clarke in the musical Wanted during its pre-Broadway run in New Jersey last year when the show was still called Gun & Powder. The musical is “the mostly-true story of Mary and Martha Clake, two extraordinary women who went from farm girls to outlaws to legends.”

After starring in the previous production, Ciara claims in her court papers that she was introduced as “a member of the future Broadway cast of the play” while appearing at an event for investors in August 2024. She says she also made other appearances to promote the show and recorded songs in a studio.
Ciara claims that she was told the producers won’t hire her because she’d “failed to collaborate” and was “unwilling to accept feedback from the creative team” during the show’s run in New Jersey, according to the New York Post.
Ciara is denying the allegations and claims that she has lost out on the $486,000 salary that she would have earned for a nine-month run in the show on Broadway.
“We vehemently deny her allegations and will vigorously defend her falsehoods,” a lawyer for the Broadway producers told The Post.
