Katie Holmes Proved It’s Never Too Early to Break Out Flannels — Replicate Her Outfit from $9

Katie Holmes is finally returning to the screen, and this time she’s reuniting with her Dawson’s Creek co-star Joshua Jackson. The former real-life couple is set to star in the movie trilogy Happy Hours (with the 46-year-old actress set to direct). Filming is currently underway, and we immediately zeroed in on Holmes’ genius pairing of wide-leg pants with a staple fall layering piece: a button-up flannel.

She wore the casual layering piece unbuttoned and over a simple gray camisole, but what polished the look was her choice to style it with trousers and brown boots. Amazon’s fashion store is filled with similar pieces to help you recreate Holmes’ fall-forward look, with styles starting at $9.

Zeagoo Flannel Shirt

This flannel looks practically identical to Holmes’ with its light pink base with sprinkles of light green in the gingham pattern. It has an oversized fit that comes with a button closure that you can wear open like the actress for a more relaxed look. One shopper described it as a “staple” for fall weather in the south and added that the cotton material has gotten “softer with each wash.”

Funyyzo Wide-Leg Pants

Pairing the flannel with these wide-leg trousers will immediately dress up the typically casual layering piece. The bottoms have subtle pleats and fitted waist that gives it a more tailored look. The pants are even travel-approved, according to a reviewer who wrote they’re the “most comfortable pants for the airplane” because the material is “silky and doesn’t wrinkle.”

Gap is one of my favorite brands for basics, including camis. The material is soft, lightweight, and can easily be layered under flannels, cardigans, or sheer blouses. One shopper called the quality “fantastic” and claims it “holds up perfectly even after regular washing.”

Brown boots like this style from Lucky Brand are an outfit essential for fall, winter, and spring outfits. The versatile shade can be dressed up with trousers (just like how Holmes paired it) or you can keep it casual with a pair of jeans. The boots are made from a soft leather material as well as a supportive insole that one review wrote were “very comfortable” after wearing them for the first time for eight hours.
