National Popcorn Day is upon us once again!
Popcorn is an integral part of the movie-watching experience. Whether you eat it at the theater or on your couch in front of your television, something about a film just demands a buttery, salty snack.
This year, on Jan. 19 — National Popcorn Day — a range of movie theaters have you covered, so you can enjoy more of the tried-and-true treat for less.
Cinemark is offering a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) popcorn deal — and encouraging movie goers to “get creative” with their containers! For just $5, customers can secure up to 400 ounces of popcorn, the theater shared on its site.

There’s just one (exciting) exception: as Cinemark has teamed up with Lowe’s this year, movie enthusiasts who bring a 5-gallon Lowe’s bucket as their container can actually fill the whole bucket up — roughly 650 ounces, per The Hollywood Reporter. Cinemark’s BYOB deal is good through Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
Marcus Theaters is keeping it simple this National Popcorn Day: any ticket holder on Jan. 19 can grab a free large popcorn to go with their viewing experience. Moviegoers can also participate in popcorn-themed games and activities, the brand stated in an announcement on its site.
Moviegoers at Regal can score one large popcorn for free on National Popcorn Day. The theater chain simply asks one small thing — to claim the deal, all you have to do is arrive dressed in costume, the brand stated in an announcement on its website, and tell someone working at the concession stand what or who you’re dressed as.
