The Book of Mormon is now the 10th longest running show on Broadway


With 5,462 performances, The Book of Mormon has become the 10th longest running show on Broadway. It won nine Tony Awards (including Best Musical) and a Grammy Award. The show has grossed over $863 million, making it the fifth highest grossing show in Broadway history.

1. The Phantom of the Opera – 13,981 performances (1988-2023)
2. Chicago – 11, 449 performances (1996-current)
3. The Lion King – 11.073 performances (1997-current)
4. Wicked – 8,610 performances (2003-current)
5. Cats – 7,485 performances (1982-2000)
6. Les Misérables – 6,680 performances (1987-2003)
7. A Chorus Line – 6,137 performances (1975-1990)
8. Oh! Calcutta! – 5,959 performances (1976-1989)
9. Mamma Mia! – 5,758 performances (2001-2015)

There won’t be any changes in the top 20 rankings for about a year. If the shows stay open for another year, Aladdin will surpass Jersey Boys’ 4,642 performances to take the #13 spot, and Hamilton will pass Miss Saigon’s 4,092 performances to claim the #15 spot.
