The college football world was rocked by the abrupt firing of University of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday, December 10 — and left even more stunned about what came next.

Moore, 39, was terminated on Wednesday after two seasons as the head coach of the Wolverines after the school found “credible evidence” that Moore had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member.

“This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement.

Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli Moore, since 2015 and the couple share three daughters: Shiloh, Solei and Sadie.

Shortly after his firing was announced, it was revealed that Moore had been taken into police custody as the result of an assault investigation.
