January Jones is calling out her brother-in-law for treating her neurological disorder like a joke.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, the Mad Men alum, 47, posted a video on Instagram opening up about her lifelong struggle with hearing chewing sounds.

“For today, I’d like to talk about something that I’ve been struggling with my whole life, which is called misophonia,” she began. “And it’s gotten progressively worse over the years.”

Misophonia is a neurological disorder defined as a severe sensitivity to sounds like chewing, coughing, yawning and more. Those suffering from it experience strong and unpleasant emotional, physiological and behavioral responses to sound, and sometimes visual triggers.

In extreme cases, people with misophonia may need cognitive behavioral therapy to manage the condition.

Jones then jokingly called out her brother-in-law for his “dangerous” behavior with her condition.

“I have a brother-in-law whose favorite food is chips. Just all the time, eating chips,” she explained. “I have talked to him about this many times, and he seems to think it’s funny to eat chips around me now because it’s an ongoing joke to see what happens and see what I do. I just think it’s really unkind to my issue and also very dangerous… for him.”

“So, what I didn’t do today was record this video inside a prison,” she added, joking about the self-restraint she has toward him. “Because I’ve imagined many ways to do it, too. But I haven’t. I didn’t. Not yet.”

“Otherwise, he’s a really nice guy,” the actress quipped. “And it’s his birthday today, so happy birthday. I hope you’re eating a f— load of chips.”

Jones tagged her brother-in-law, Tyler King, in the video. He later reposted the video on his Instagram Stories and replied.

“To be fair, I do try to crunch quietly,” he wrote. “But every now and then, yes, I do think it’s funny…thanks for the birthday (threat?) wish!”

In addition to Jones, other celebrities who have publicly shared their experiences with misophonia include Melissa Gilbert, Kelly Ripa, Kelly Osbourne and more.
